I have Throat installed (kind of) on a dev server, but I'm not confident in it just yet. There isn't really any documentation and the only other site that I know using it that isn't the official one is poal.

Are you going to use the same software (Postmill)?
I remember you were considering a switch to Throat.

That happens with many other eepsites for me. Since it happens to some sites more frequently than others, I'd assume that it's related to geolocation / (how far the server is away from you). I'm not an I2P expert, but the whole tunneling part seems rather complex and prone to latency issues due to possible problems with intermediate routers, so maybe ramble doesn't always resolve properly because of something going wrong in the middle of the connection.

I hope you will put more effort into advertising it because this community deserves more users and posts.

I'm responding to this from ramble.i2p right now, are you still experiencing this?
What I2P subscription lists are you using in https://127.0.0.1:7667/dns
?
For example, mine looks like:
http://identiguy.i2p/hosts.txt
http://notbob.i2p/hosts-all.txt
http://skank.i2p/hosts.txt
http://stats.i2p/cgi-bin/newhosts.txt

I can’t speak to better, but I can speak to the season. Merry Christmas, Rambler.

Do captchas even help though? They sure help prevent automated sign-ups, but spam? The modlog documents several spam waves that happened right before registration was disabled. Even Raddle suffers from this, hence why they currently enforce the same measures.

I wouldn't worry too much about migrating things posted. Stuff is mostly ephemeral anyway. If the two sites run in parallel for a while, everyone can just manually repost what they find worthwhile.

Thanks. I'll always support free speech, even speech I disagree with. I've looked at replacing Ramble with a new platform entirely, as Postmill is a nightmare to work with and modify. Downside to that is that it wouldn't be possible to import current users and data to the new platform in any realistic fashion without paying someone to develop an import tool but the upside being a site that is more easily adjustable to our needs.

Yeah, being the guy that runs something like a "free-speech" platform is a losing battle. Old Voat eventually had the admin missing in action completely. But then, not every platform needs to grow to the size of reddit. Though, it would be nice if Ramble had a few users more, so I'm advertising this place where I can.

This.
But I'll enable the feature if someone wants to create a new one. I'd leave it open but I'm not around enough to feel comfortable doing it, because people will create dumb shit and post it on other sites trying to get this place shut down.
Last time I pitched the idea for asking for community help running this place, people acted like I was personally inviting spooks to help moderate stuff.
So it's sort of a lose lose from a management perspective. I'd like to see this place be more active but the reality is I'm just one person and run a business and work a regular part time job and try to do that while balancing a normal life.

It's not like there are enough users to fill new communities anyway..

So... now the site just goes stagnant with no new communities?

It's fixed. /u/z3d has been helping me get things snappy over I2P, which can be seen on http://tube.i2p and http://teddit.i2p, but the changes unfortunately don't translate well to the Postmill software.
I've reverted the changes. Ramble is already near clearnet speeds on I2P anyway.

Me too. My Firefox and Pale Moon browser that connect via I2P kept showing me errors whenever I loaded the site.

I will. This place was more active towards it's beginning, but I became unavailable due to work / life for a long enough period that things got abused here, I had to turn off registration, and several months later it was still closed.
I'm in a position where I'm more available and motivated now, so thinking a reboot will be a good move.
