irc.echelon.i2p currently has issues. temporarily removing this server from your irc client tunnel config will make the problem disappear!

Yes, the project is very much alive, actively developed, with a growing userbase.

Some of the differences between I2P+ and I2P include:

  • 4 default console themes, 7 i2psnark themes, support for update-persistent css overrides and hiDPI screens
  • renovated console and webapp user interface, with additional features
  • in-console help section with pages for both new and experienced users
  • various under-the-hood performance enhancements

Just a small clarification: I2P+ doesn't require more bandwidth than stock I2P, though if you allocate I2P+ bandwidth, it will make more efficient use of it. That's particularly apparent on high bandwidth, high performance routers where I2P+ will quite happily push 8MB/s in both directions while hosting 14K participating tunnels.

If you're more or less happy with Thunar, give PCManFM a try. Mostly the same layout so it should feel familiar, with more power user options that don't complicate the UI. In a debian based distro: sudo apt install pcmanfm

Thanks to the magic of scripting and cron (and term99), we now have an update url for automated I2P+ dev build updates from within the console.

To enable updating with unsigned zip files, add the line: routerconsole.advanced=true to your router.config file located in your configuration directory (not the application dir) and then browse to http://127.0.0.1:7657/configupdate and add the following url to the "Update with unsigned development builds" section: http://skank.i2p/dev/i2pupdate.zip

Be sure to enable the option, then save, and then hit the "Check for updates" button. It may take a few tries before the proxy responds, and then you'll see an update notification in the sidebar (if a new update is available).

It's also recommended to set the update policy to "Notify only" to ensure you don't update with vanilla I2P releases, and can update at a time of your choosing.

If you'd prefer to update with release versions, the update url is: http://skank.i2p/i2pupdate.zip
