censorship is the easy way out. the real challenge is using your speech to counter other's because that requires thinking critically and censorship is just pressing a button.

Never had the occasion to walk through any heavy-on-censorship subreddit; is it really that bad? What subreddits are the worst?
Just go there sometimes for tech support / info about open-source software, so not really that much to censor.

If I wanted censored content I'd go to reddit. Keep it free.

After some mediocre debate involving the creator of the software that powers this website and her lack of support of free speech I figured I'd ask the community here what they thought. After all, this is your community.
While the main topics of discussion here stem around technology, privacy, information sharing and anonymity networks I also don't believe in stifling speech so long as it's in the appropriate, user created forum.
I'm working on a bunch of wiki content as well, and I'll go into detail as to how you can block both a forum and it's content as well as specific members of your choosing from your view. This way, if you have a moral objection to the content of any forum(s) or member(s) you can erase them from your existence here and carry on as if they do not exist, because to you, they will not.
But hey, that's just my take on it. What's yours?

Per our private messages, I created a regular user account and created a test forum and attempted to add a moderator and was unable to. I'll look more into this.
For now you're free to PM me and I'll add whoever you want per request.

I was using clearnet when I posted the op. And then I also tested .onion

Same both, I couldn't find "Add" button. uuhhhhmmmm...

Strange. It should be there, I'm using the .onion website right now to post this comment. I see the "Add" button right next to the text, "Moderators" in the sidebar.
Can anyone else who has a forum check and confirm?

Hmm, interesting. Let me look into it. Are you using the clearnet or .onion site?
Let me fire up TOR and take a look.

I don't see any forums under your account, but you can use the "Add" button in the box at the bottom right of the page. If you have a different account, login with it and you should see the option when you view your forum.
Bottom of the page to the right, under the "Toolbox" for your forum.

Edit: more specifically fanboy's annoyance list blocks the subcribe-button and subscribe-form classes.
Ahh, gotcha. I was going to say, I have uBlock and didn't have the problem even though I'm kind of strict with it. But I'm not using annoyance list.
Glad to see it's resolved though!

Do you see this on the forum in question? https://images2.imgbox.com/60/71/fQbxa0Vg_o.png
It should be on the sidebar right under the title of the forum.

Check the sidebar of the forum, there will be a link there.
You can also go to the Forum Directory as well and choose a forum you'd like to subscribe to by selecting the 'Subscribe' button on the right side of the page as well.

I like this idea. Right now feature requests are all being written down.
This site is ran on free, open source software called 'PostMill', I may setup a development mirror on another server with fake data/content for community development of some of these ideas and push those updates, once tested and vetted, to the live site.

Why
Rambler admin wrote
I like the idea however, at a glance, it appears no one registered with an email address (well not "no one", but very, very very few) since it's not a required option.
I did make /f/cryptography a front page / featured forum after another member made it and thought about making a "key exchange" or PGP Practice type forum to allow users to practice their encryption skills (which I need to do as well, since it's been mostly just that... practice). You're free to create something like that if you wish, I'll probably make ti a featured forum too.
I know that's not really what you asked but in short: There is no plans to implement that just yet. If this site continues to gain traction I will likely set up a development mirror (with fake populated data, not real user data) for community development of things like that so we can form this community into exactly what we want. But for now, it's been 36 hours and I've received a lot of feature requests that I can't make happen... yet. :)

Well, here is the conversation that got me banned: https://raddle.me/f/Postmill/123713/new-postmill-instance-ramble-pw
Postmill is the name of the software that this site uses, though it was created for that authoritarian site. Someone linked to this site, stating concern over our TOS. That forum is more or less the official forum for the software.
Luckily, I forked the software so we can continue private community development of it, as the license allows for, and we can push it as a platform for all. Not just the extreme-left.
