Snowden's Bizarre Adventure.

Texas' home defense laws are practically, "Fuck around and find out."
Refusal to adhere to non-lethal force or commands while trespassing when the trespasser knows you're armed allows for the use of deadly force. At night, I think it's just "assume every tresspasser is armed".
Plain clothes cops shouldn't be used too often.

Reply to Internet down in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., after beaver chews through fibre cable by AWiggerInTime
It's sort of crazy to think that in this modern era of wireless devices that behind all of them is large scale fiber deployments. Literally countless miles of fiber running from city to city, town to town. Underground, underwater and spanning the ocean to connect continents together.
People don't often stop to think about the actual physical point to point networking involved. The younger generation thinks the internet is just 'wireless' and comes from a box in their living room or from their cellphone. Even crazier when you look at datacenters and the vast amount of energy it takes to keep servers online.

In "normal" news the world is always ending, people are always losing, things are bad and getting worse, there is no light in the end.
So when a beaver chews through cable it's a good thing, at least that will slow down technological apocalypse.

I like these kinds of news. Serious stuff is tiring after a while.

I agree, we need nuclear. The post just says, not ready.

Am I missing something? I see one paragraph about it, which ends with "Read on for the latest on that story ..." but then there's nothing else about that story, just other education related stories.

The world needs nuclear. More resources should be expended to further research nuclear power.

No, propaganda outlet, that’s not what it means.

Definitely the /f/clownworld
If they wanted to start with ongoing wrongs, there is always debt, corporate slavery, mass surveillance, mass sterilizations, wars and genocide. But no, those psychopaths will only try to act moral for the purpose of creating more misery. The government is not the solution, it's the problem.

Wasn't for sure to post this in /f/news or /f/clownworld . I always thought the "we want reparations for something none of us has ever experienced" thing was sort of a meme, but here we are.
I'm not sure how you'd even determine who would qualify. In America, many (the majority, I believe) of African Americans immigrated after the civil war.

Apparently in 2012 there were telecommunications outages in nine African countries because of a passing ship dragging an anchor.

Corporate cocksuckers deserve to die. Infrastructure is replaceable, specialists servicing it less so. If they have no morals, let them be deterred by fear. Those who oppress people for corporate blood money should know what's coming to them.

I mean, it'd just fallover to a backup location Aside from some small outages, it'd have no real major impact on the availability of the interent and websites and the greatest impact would be obviously the potential loss of life in such an attack.
Now, backhoes, scuba gear and fiber lines is another story if internet infrastructure disruption is a goal... It'd all get replaced / patched eventually but it'd still fuck shit up for a while.

The page I got said Techcrunch is part of Verizon. That's all I really need to know. Besides, the headline scarcely sounds like a shock. OF COURSE an internet company is going to play lord and judge of all that kneel before them. How else can they get bought up by one of the Ten Crowns of the Beast and rule the world?
