I recently read, "After self-hosting my email for twenty-three years I have thrown in the towel.". I tried self hosting some of my email a few years ago. Fortunately, I did not need 23 years to realize the system is rigged against me. After working in corporate environments for decades and having had other enlightening experiences, I have become adept at recognizing when systems are designed to limit my options. I only needed a few months of jumping through the particular hoops erected for email servers to realize that Gmail had no intention of ever accepting my emails. So, I shut down my email server and moved on to more productive ways of spending my time. Now, I am rethinking that position.

I never stopped using self-hosted mail. Been using it for about 20 years now and it works fine for me.
