I've tried to make accounts on both, and even when using temporary SMS # services, all the numbers are either already taken or the SMS never gets sent for some reason.

Are there any SMS # sites that work, or any way around this?

I've used "Hushed" in the past, but I was able to use it generate a (paid) alt-number that did work with social media.Their site is here: https://hushed.com/
