Wit Studio does amazing work. Unfortunately Vinland Saga was a pretty mediocre story with the whole slavery-is-bad and people-owning-slaves-are-evil-incarnate. Moral busybodying like that takes you out of the story.
But if the story checks out it could be amazing. Unfortunately, for the past decade there haven't been all that many great stories coming out of Japan. Nowadays I'll read more Chinese stuff than Japanese. Reverend Insanity for example is so amazing that reading it was a major mistake, since now everything else feels like garbage in comparison.

When it comes to Chinese stuff, I mainly watch movies like "the bravest" and "the wondering earth" not to mention martial arts movies like ip man
Never read books or watched animated stuff, but I've heard about Reverend insanity but only in name
The only two Chinese animations I've seen were a 3d animated series called "Ling long: incarnation" and an anime-style show called "the uncharted walker" both were pretty good
There was also another 3d animation, can't remember its name and I only saw one or two episodes where a teenage boy woke up in a desolate city where maniacs are killing each other, iirc there was a man (or was it a woman?) with a chainsaw trying to kill him and a pink haired girl helping him, it was an interesting show, if I managed to remember it's name, I'll look for the rest of episodes
