I wasn't sure whether to post this here on /f/I2P or on /f/Crypto, but it seems here is a better choice.

I'm new to i2p, so in my clicking every i2p link I see I stumbled upon GOSTcoin. There is no information about it so I decided to ask here.

  • Who is behind it? is it the i2pd devs?
  • Is it a scam?
  • Is the project active?
  • Does anyone actually use it?

The questions you've asked are the same questions I've wondered myself.

They have a reddit community: https://old.reddit.com/r/GOSTCoin/ Two posts, both 3 years ago.

Hopefully someone will come along and give us some details, but I wouldn't be dumping my 401K into GOSTcoin anytime soon. :)

GOST is a Russian standards system, pretty much like ANSI is in the US. According to their website, their coin uses GOST standards for cryptogrpahy, therefore is named after it. Their subreddit was banned 2 months ago and they still have the dead link on their site, so I suppose it's pretty much inactive.
You might find more info from their github page: https://github.com/GOSTSec/
